Here are some of my recommendations on how you can use these cards.

You may like to utilize this resource to help students improve their concentration and memory, learn new vocabulary and help them build connections with their natural environment.

Print on card stock and laminate for longer use. After cutting cards, draw with marker or stick dot stickers to the back of each set – one color for each set. Place the label cards in a row. Explain the difference between the different types of animal behaviors in winter. Invite the child to sort cards into three categories.

After the child completes the task, invite him or her to flip the cards and self-check. Each card has to be under the correct category based on the dot color. They can also self-correct using the answer key sheet.

Young children can be encouraged to match the cards when printed twice or play a memory game.

Older children might be inspired to research and create their own books about animals that inhabit local wild habitats and their behavior in winter

Follow up with backline worksheet. Print on regular paper a copy for each student. Invite them to cut, color, and paste animals under the correct category.
