Today, I want to delve into this topicโ€”the basic needs that all humans have – and share how we exprlored these needs with my homeschooled children using captivating books, hands on activities, experiences, field trips and educational printables to foster their growth and understanding.

The Montessori Approach to Fundamental Human Needs

Maria Montessori believed in presenting children with the larger picture before diving into the specifics. Itโ€™s like showing them the vast universe and its origins before pointing out our place in it. In our lessons, we explore the fundamental needs of humans, emphasizing both material and spiritual aspects. This creates an engaging environment where children can connect deeply with their own experiences and the world around them.

To help illustrate this, we use a variety of activities. One such activity is the Fundamental Needs of Humans 3-Part Cards. All these careers show how communication is at the core of many jobs and how it helps people understand each other better.

Farmers grow crops and raise animals; chefs prepare delicious meals; nutritionists help us eat healthy; and scientists study food to find new ways to make it better and safer to eat.
