Editable Teacher Planner With Yearly Updates

Planning in Montessori education involves a process of understanding each child’s individual needs, strengths, and interests. Teachers design activities and lessons that promote independence, self-discipline, and holistic learning. The Montessori method emphasizes hands-on, experiential learning, and teachers create a prepared environment that encourages exploration and discovery. Lesson plans are flexible and responsive, allowing teachers to adjust to each child’s progress and adjust activities accordingly. Overall, Montessori teachers prioritize creating a supportive, engaging environment that fosters a love of learning in each child.

suggestions and strategies on how to implement effective planning for Montessori teachers

Understand the Montessori philosophy: Understanding the Montessori philosophy is essential for effective planning. Montessori teachers should learn and adopt the methods, materials, and principles of the Montessori approach. This will ensure that they design appropriate activities that meet the individual learning needs of each child.

Observe children regularly: Teachers should observe children to understand their interests, strengths, and weaknesses. Observation helps teachers to develop individualized learning plans for each child. Regular observation also helps to identify potential challenges or developmental barriers that might affect a child’s performance.

Create a flexible timetable: Montessori classrooms are designed to be flexible, with children having the freedom to choose activities based on their interests and needs. Teachers should develop a flexible timetable that integrates lessons, outdoor activities, and other opportunities for free play, exploration, and creativity. This will give children the freedom to learn and grow in a supportive environment.

Use a variety of materials: Montessori teachers need to use a wide range of materials to help children learn effectively. These can include tangible objects, books, videos, educational games, and other resources that support different learning styles. The use of various materials helps to keep children engaged and motivated to learn.

Collaborate with other teachers and parents: Effective planning requires collaboration with other teachers and parents. Teachers should regularly communicate with parents about their child’s progress and challenges. Collaboration with other teachers also helps to share ideas and learn from best practices. It creates a supportive environment that encourages learning and promotes the child’s well-being.

Focus on the whole child: Montessori teachers should focus on the whole child, taking into account their physical, emotional, and social development. This means developing personalized plans that cater to the unique strengths and challenges of each child. By considering the whole child, teachers can create a supportive environment that promotes growth and development.

Teacher planner

Keeping my teaching and planning organized always brought a sense of control and enabled me to shift focus from curriculum goals and teaching agenda to one-on-one interactions with students on a more meaningful and deeper level.

That allowed me to be present with the children and stay on top of classroom organization. You can’t overestimate the power of having a functional system to plan your teaching process at home and in a school, childcare, or family daycare.

So I designed an Editable Teacher Planner.

The teacher Montessori planner is an invaluable tool for educators. It is designed to help you track students’ progress and plan lessons in a way that maximizes their engagement and learning experience. The planner consists of sections for daily and weekly planning, student observation and record-keeping, assessment and evaluation, and resources for teaching. This tool is essential for Montessori teachers who want to maintain the integrity of their teaching approach while staying organized and efficient in their classroom management.

I can’t imagine running a successful program without a detailed and thorough plan in place. I see a great advantage in having lists of all resources, ideas, schedules, yearly, weekly, and daily plans organized in one place.  I was looking for something that was pleasant to work with and functional. The best part is that you can customize it to fit your needs – use PowerPoint slides to add table columns and rows, change font style and color, and add or change table content according to your preference.

I believe it will be especially handy for those of us who are starting the new academic year in January. My planners include both options – Jan-Dec and August – July academic years.

The teacher planner is in PowerPoint – editable and customizable. The PDF version is also included for those who prefer to print and handwrite all information without having to change the content.

Every December I am going to update calendars and add new styles, covers, planners and lists. You are going to receive a FREE notification every year to the updated version. This way I will help you to save on having to purchase a new planner each year.

Each type of form is presented in an individual file to help you pick and choose what works best for you and your classroom.

Montessori and other quotes are included within the design.

You can also laminate the notes page and use it to write and wipe daily notes.

My favorite part is that the planners have separate infant, toddler, preschool, and lower elementary students’ daily and weekly plans based on Montessori scope and sequence.

To effectively use a Montessori teacher planner, you should start by setting goals and prioritizing tasks. Use the planner to plan lessons and activities, track student progress, and make notes on any observations. The planner should also be used to document individualized learning plans and any differentiated instruction. You can also use the planner to reflect on your teaching and adjust your approach accordingly. Additionally, make sure to keep the planner updated regularly and use it as a tool for communication with parents and other educators.

I also included a two-page spread weekly plan with a page to write down your weekly recap, general observations, and reflections. I always used to prepare two 2-page spread plans with lesson plans for each child per day ( classroom for 3-5yo with 18 children present a day) across the whole week. I would also have next week’s planner prepared where I used to write down a follow-up lesson. This ensured that way my individual lesson presentation plan was done one week in advance. It also allowed me to make sure that not one child was left without attention.

Here is what Weekly Planner for Individual Lesson Presentations for 20 children looks like. Two additional pages are included with the weekly overview and weekly reflections. Print on both sides of the paper.

My Sanity List is a great reminder to nurture your mind and soul in the midst of your busy schedule.

You have the option to choose from three different covers and spines. As I mentioned earlier, new styles will be added each year. This 250+ page Teacher planner is a great choice for a Montessori teacher, however,  it can be used by all teachers as it can be easily adjusted to fit your preferences.

Here is a small tip: When working on your planning – simply copy and paste parts of the curriculum you would like to address.
