These days often I find myself pondering on inequality of living standards around the world. This is something we no longer can be oblivious to and mark as someone else’s responsibility. Peace – is the center and heart of Montessori education. Demonstrations and manifestations of respect and compassion for children who were rejected by society and were living in Italian slums brought forth incredible success of the Montessori method.
Today, when we believe that we had reached great achievements in a battle for human rights, the inequality of life seems to create a greater gap between people. We wait for governments to do something and we are left to believe that we are not enough. But, of course, it’s not true. Each story can begin with one very kind and smart person, like Maria Montessori, who took action to help children who were living in poverty and rejected by society.. More than 100 years later, here we are, following her steps, trying to comprehend the depths and nature of developing human beings and deliver the level of respect to children that rightfully belongs to them from birth.
Today I am looking for those who would like to help me reach out to children far away, across the globe, who used to be trapped in sexual abuse and exploitation, but now receive hope and love with the help from workers of Destiny Rescue organization. These children get immense comfort just knowing that there are people who CARE. Those children deserve respect despite being forced into slavery. They have dignity. Education can help them restore their lost identity and be new again. This is my goal today. Will you join me?
Destiny Rescue is an international Christian-based non-profit organization dedicated to rescuing children from human trafficking and sexual exploitation. Our vision is to rescue the sexually exploited and enslaved, restore the abused, protect the vulnerable, empower the poor and be a voice for those who can’t speak up for themselves. We currently operate our various programs in five nations: Thailand, Cambodia, Laos, Philippines, and India. We also have offices in three donor nations: Australia, New Zealand and the United States. We’ve rescued over 1400 children from exploitation and trafficking since 2011, helped keep hundreds more from entering the sex trade through our various prevention programs, ensured justice for those who have been wronged and raised awareness to untold numbers. And, we’ll continue to expand to help reach even more children in the days ahead!
The reason I am personally involved is that I had a chance to get to know people who actively participate in rescue operations, and provide the girls with a safe place to live. They guide those children through the process of restoration helping them gain new skills that will help them to regain dignity and support their families.
